Angel Threads was created in September 2011. We crochet, baby blankets, hats and booties and donate them to hospitals throughout the United States. There are only two people as of now who crochet with Angel Threads. Angel Threads was created after I lost my son in December 2010. I want to be able to comfort other parents and families who suffer the same loss as I did!
Here is my story: This was my first child. I was trying to conceive for 4 years. After about 6 months of seeing a fertility specialist, I found out I was pregnant on September 17, 2010. Everything was going great the first 1 1/2 months. At 10 weeks, I had a subchorionic hemorrhage, which is bleeding behind the placenta. The bleeding only lasted a few days (the baby was fine). This is very common and the blood would just reabsorb back into my body, after the bleeding scare, we thought every thing was fine again. Then at 18 weeks, on Christmas Eve, 2010, contractions started, only I didn't know they were contractions at the time. I called the doctor's office and they said it was probably constipation...and didn't do a thing to help me. There are 6 doctors in my practice. During christmas eve, christmas day and the day after, the contractions kept getting worse.
The day after Christmas, I called the doctor again, she told me to get a stool softener since they thought it was constipation, which is also very common in pregnancy, well, that didn't help. Then at 1:30am on December 27th, my water broke when I was in bed. I got up to use the bathroom and called the doctor yet again. This time I got the doctor that I really like. I went straight to the hospital. By the time I got to the ER, I was 3cm dilated...they did an exam, my doctor came in and prepped me to go to Labor and Delivery...I was still only 3cm when I got to my room, so they gave me something to move labor along. There was nothing they could do at this time to stop the labor.
By 8am, I could feel the baby moving down the birth canal; I called the Dr back into my room. They checked me and could feel my sons head...It was time to deliver him. At 8:22am he slid right out. I didn't even have to push, but I did have an epidural to relieve the contractions. I delivered a stillborn boy at 8:22am on December 27, 2010...he was 9oz and 8 1/2 inches... the hospital let me spend as much time as I wanted with him after they cleaned him up. We had him buried, but I have his pictures and a memory box of his birth... knowing him for such a short time, he stole my heart! ♥ Being a mother, I just keep asking myself, how did I not know something was wrong. How did I not know I was in labor? I didnt have an autopsy done on him but they did tests on the placenta. It showed 50% bleeding. The preterm labor was caused by an infection and placental abruption.
I was due on May 28, 2011
